Cath Kidston Inspired Vintage Nails

It was my BFF's birthday on Tuesday and she adores Cath Kidston. So I have been spending a lot of time on the website and this inspired this...

The thumb, middle and little finger were inspired by this design - image is taken from the Cath Kidston website found here

The index and ring finger were inspired by this fabric also found here

But I changed the background colour to blue.
I used Barry M in Blueberry Ice cream for the background and Mint Green for the light foliage
For the white I used Models Own Snow White
For the pinks I used the Nails Inc heathered grey and plum from the Diet Coke Promotion in Boots.
I also used a little acrylic paint for the dark green, Sinful Colors Strong Nails as a base and Seche Vite as top coat.
I hope you like them :-D I am quite pleased with them but I think I went a little too heavy on the floral part on the ring finger nail. I prefer the look on the index finger nail. I think the effect is pretty good overall anyway.
The most accurate photo colour wise is the last one.

Nautical Nails

Hi
3 followers how exciting! I haven't got time to do a full post today. My partner Paul was playing being a lines man at football today and someone didn't agree with his decision so they punched him in the face. Hard. So we've been in the hospital A&E department until 10pm :-( not fun.
Anyway a quick post of some nails I did a few weeks back. Inspired by some nails in a Japanese Nail Art magazine. I can't remember which one but was a summer edition by the look of them.

White nail polish - Models Own
True Blue nail polish - Models Own
Red gemstones from a nail art kit from Claires Accessories
Red nail art pen from Ebay
Sinful Colors Non Yellowing as base and top coat.
I hope you enjoy looking at them.
I have some false nail samples I will post tomorrow

First ever nail art

I was looking round the internet and Lipglossiping linked WAH nails. I fell in love with the zebra and pink design and tried to recreate it. I used bourjois french tip white, I used GOSH waterproof liner for the stripes and a pink I got free with a magazine. Top and base I used Sally Hansen Miracle cure. And so the addiction began!

Floral Nails - with better photos!

So the post from phone worked ok apart from the terrible picture!

The background polish on the thumb, middle and little fingers is Boots 17 Lasting Fix in Mint Choc Chip and the flowers are painted on by hand with phat santa (below), Nails inc in Heather Grey (free one with 2 bottle of diet coke at Boots), white nail art pen and I used dark green acrylic paint for the leaves. I just used a normal fine paint brush that I got from Dunelm (was a pack of 8 for £4 in the sale)
The background polish on the index and ring fingers is China Glaze Phat Santa (Loves) and rhinestones.
For all nails I used Sinful Colors True Colours Non Yellowing as base coat and Seche Vite for top coat.
As  I said in my previous post I was inspired by Japanese nail art magazine Nail Up July 2010.

I really like this look I hope it lasts all week. Will have to top up the top coat to try and make it last. Sorry not very well cleaned around the nails was trying to take pics before light faded completely. Roll on summer!

Floral nails

Inspired by nail up july 2010. First post by phone. Photo quality poor!

Nautical Hearts

One of the first designs I actually took pictures of was a nautical heart design. I don't think I copied this idea from a magazine I think I started to do something and it evolved into this. I was definitely influenced by a summer Japanese nail art magazine spread though it’s not a scheme that springs to mind in the depths of winter!

For the background colour I used models own in true blue available here
For the nail art I used nail art pens that I got from eBay. I won't say where because the ones I got were cheap but I wouldn't recommend them. The black and white especially (i.e. the ones I use the most) have got very thick quickly and half the pens I got were no good because the glitter doesn't fit through the pen. They also have a brush so they can be used just not fully.

This was the first design where I tried to draw something with the pens so I’m pretty pleased with it. Sorry the photographs aren’t the best. I will have to learn how to take good photographs of nails.

Hello

Hi and Welcome to my blog. I have called it Kawaii Nail Art because I get most of my inspiration from Japanese Nail Art designs and love Kawaii designs and everything else I could think of was taken! I only recently started to paint my nails after I gave up smoking as something to do with my hands.
I look forward to getting some readers now!
